8 June 2018: The Australian Government confirms that discussions have been held with the Malaysian Government clarifying the situation of Mr Sirul Azhar Umar. However, as stated by Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir, Malaysia has not lodged an extradition request with Australia for Mr Sirul.

Australia looks forward to continuing and strengthening our productive and longstanding law enforcement cooperation with the Government of Malaysia.
