Nominations are now open for the 2016 round of the Australia-Malaysia Towards 2020 Research Fellowships and Executive Awards.
The Research Fellowships provide financial support for Malaysian Government officials to undertake postgraduate or postdoctoral research in Australia. Research should fall within the fields of economics, public policy or international relations. Fellows may undertake short-term research (up to four months) towards a Masters or PhD (in which they are enrolled in Malaysia), or postdoctoral research in Australia.
Research Fellowships are open to Malaysian officials nominated by Malaysian Government agencies or universities at which they are undertaking postgraduate or postdoctoral research, as well as Malaysian employees of research institutes and non-government organisations in Malaysia that focus on relevant research fields.
The Executive Awards provide opportunities for Malaysian Government officials to take up professional development opportunities in Australia. The awards focus on building public sector skills in economics, public policy or international relations. They are not designed to further the Award Holder’s research interests (Research Fellowships are meant to serve this purpose). Award Holders will have the flexibility to design a program that advances their professional goals and home agency’s needs. For example, programs may include activities such as a work placement with an Australian Government host agency, attendance at a conference, participation in a short course or peer-to-peer learning.
Executive Awards are open to Malaysian officials nominated by agencies and departments of the Malaysian Government.
Up to four Research Fellowships and Executive Awards will be offered in 2016. Research Fellowships are valued up to A$23,500 each, and Executive Awards are valued up to A$18,500 each, both including administrative costs.
