How to obtain a new Malaysian Birth Certificate

Requests for replacement Malaysian Birth Certificates must be made through the Malaysian National Registry.

When making the application for a new birth certificate the applicant is required to provide the following information:

 - Name and date of birth of child
 - Certified copy of parents' Marriage Certificate
 - Certified copies of both parents' passports
 - Fee of Malaysian Ringgit 5 (RM 5.00). This may vary, please check with the relevant Department.

The National Registration Department has advised they will accept foreign currency payment for extracting a copy of a birth certificate. The foreign currency (bank draft made out to "Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara" or cash) must be equivalent to RM5.00. The amount provided must be exactly RM5.00 or more - if less the process will be delayed.

The restrictions of the Australian and Malaysian Privacy Acts prevent the Australian High Commission from assisting in these matters.
