Department of Education
The Commonwealth Department of Education provides leadership and coordination across government, delivering programs and policies, to support student mobility and the global exchange of knowledge. The department works with the education sector, other government agencies and ministries to ensure Australia is recognised as a regional and world leader in education and a partner of choice for international collaboration. The Department's office in Malaysia is managed by the Counsellor (Education and Science) located within the Australian High Commission.
New Colombo Plan
The New Colombo Plan is a signature initiative of the Australian Government which aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia by supporting Australian undergraduates to undertake study, language training and internships in the region.
The New Colombo Plan involves a scholarship program for study of up to one year, language training and internships or mentorships, and as well as a flexible mobility program for both short and longer-term study, language study, internships, practicums and research.
Australian Alumni
The Australian Government is committed to supporting a global network of Australian alumni. From the establishment of the Colombo Plan in 1951 to today, education has been central to Australia’s partnerships with Malaysia and the region. Our scholarships have enabled more than 100,000 leaders to study in Australia or the Pacific and are a foundational feature of our bilateral relationships.
